Moran: With just a few hours left to go for
Chhath Puja celebrations, Moran along with other parts of Assam is getting
ready to celebrate the Hindu festival. Like all other Pujas and festivals,
Chhath Puja celebrations too would be low-key due to COVID situation.
The Moran
Chhath Puja committee has announced that no celebrations will take place this
time and people have been requested to stay home and offer prayers from home.
Every year
about 6,000 devotees gather at the Ravi Sasthi Sarobar Samiti in Moran on the
day of Chhath Puja but this time devotees would not be allowed to perform puja
at that place due to COVID restrictions.
Chhath puja also known as Dala Chhath is one of the famous festivals of Hindus which is celebrated after 6 days of Diwali.
On the
occasion of Chhath puja, the solar deity Surya (Lord Sun) and Shashti Devi
Chhath Maiya are worshiped.
This
festival is mainly celebrated in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh but it is also
celebrated in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Mauritius, and Nepal.
Government has issued guidelines for the Chhath Puja celebration because of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.
