NUMALIGARH: Amidst the prevailing situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, Morangi Press Club came forward to help many needy and hungry families.

More than hundred families of the area were selected and provided with ration, food essentials like rice, dal, potato and mustard oil by the Press Club recently. The PR department of Numaligarh Refinery Limited also stepped in to help the Press Club to distribute ration to the needy families of the region.

Morangi Press Club secretary Priyangdeep Kakoti said, "Along with the doctors, other medical workers, government officials, police and the journalists are also working as frontline workers. When we visited various places of the region for gathering news, we saw many destitute and needy families. With limited government resources, many families have not been covered by any government scheme or received any assistance. The daily wagers and labourers are the worst sufferers. We listed such destitute families and distributed ration packets among more than 100 families in the region."

Morangi Press Club distributed ration packets with daily food essentials among selected families in the villages of Rajabri, Doigrung, Narayanpur, Ponkapathar and Rangbong.
