MoU signed between Biswanath College and Pavoi Fish Farm

Biswanath College started a remarkable collaborative and extension initiative in the form of signing of (MoU) with a fishery and hatchery centre named Pabhoi Fish Farm

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Biswanath College started a remarkable collaborative and extension initiative in the form of signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a fishery and hatchery centre named Pabhoi Fish Farm on Friday. This was a joint initiative of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and the Department of Zoology of the college. The collaboration aims to strengthen the academic and research activities, as stated by Dr B Sharma, Head of the Department of Zoology.

Followed by the legal initiative, a workshop was held at the Pabhoi Fish Farm in the presence of faculties and students of the Zoology Department of the college. The session was inaugurated by Dr C M Sharma, Principal of the college. In his speech, Dr Sharma acknowledged the activities put forward by the farm and urged the students to learn lessons from those initiatives. B Bhagawati, the owner of the farm, delivered a detailed talk on how the farm had succeeded in its established goals. A resourceful presentation on 'Fishery as a livelihood opportunity' was also delivered illustrating how this business has a high potential in Northeast India in the upcoming years.

Dr N Thakur, Co-ordinator, IQAC, Biswanath College, also offered his views on the contributions of Pabhoi Fish Farm to the society. More than 100 participants attended the programme whereas Dr L Baruah, member of IQAC, Dr R Sharma and S Hojaisa, Assistant Professors from the Zoology Department, showed their active involvement in successfully conducting both the initiatives.
