SILCHAR: Taking the advantage of international border, a community was engaged in anti-national activities, stated Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy. He requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to set up a full fledged office of Intelligent Bureau in Barak Valley which shares border with Bangladesh.

Without naming any group, Rajdeep Roy in Lok Sabha said that a particular community in Barak Valley was actively associated with various anti social activities ranging from smuggling to seditious conspiracy. He further added that it could often be noticed that a group of youth belonging to that particular community suddenly disappeared for five to seven years and then resurfaced and got engaged in various anti national activities. Even Meghalaya, which also shares international border with Bangladesh faced similar threat. Silchar's BJP MP requested Shah to immediately set up an IB office under an IPS like the one the department was having in the western front bordering Pakistan.
