SILCHAR: The multidimensional works of Assam Rifles during the last one week in organizing awareness camp on health and hygiene, medical camp and blood donation drive as well as motivational lecture for youths have earned applause from people in general. The week long programme began with an awareness drive on health, hygiene and sanitation at Old Kaiphundai village of Manipur with the message that the dreaded COVID-19 is yet to end.

The lecture on the occasion aimed at educating the local residents about the critical current pandemic situation and the precautions that need to be taken in maintaining neatness and cleanliness all around the dwelling places of their village. The unhygienic condition leads to spread of disease, so common during monsoon. Around 70 villagers could enlighten themselves about the precautions to be taken to keep diseases at a bay.

In yet another drive, a medical and blood donation camp in coordination with the civil administration at Labac village in Cachar was well appreciated by the villagers. 42 of them donated blood for which staff from SMCH extended necessary help. The medical team of Assam Rifles attended to the patients, diagnosed their ailments and provided necessary medicines. 110 residents were benefited.

The online motivational lecture for youths covered 65 youths of Cachar and Jiribam in Manipur. They were educated about the importance of education, sports, extra curricular activities, baneful effects of drug and how best they could serve the society. They were also inspired to join security forces to serve the society. The programmes were held by Kadamtala Battalion under the aegis of Headquarters 21 Sector and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East).
