Municipal Board elections: Observer assesses preparations in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: Observer for Sonitpur district for the upcoming Municipal Board elections, Anil Chandra Das, on Saturday took stock of the preparations for the upcoming civic body elections in the district to be held on March 6, in a meeting held with the various officers in charge of different election cells at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Also present in the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioners Romy Baruah, Pankaj Nagbanshi, Dyotiva Bora, SDOs Ashutosh Deka and Biraj Boruah, and other officers in charge of various cells opened for the smooth conduct of the upcoming elections.

The officers apprised the observers about the various steps taken up to ensure a free and peaceful election in the district. The observer also took stock of the preparations taken by the administration for training and deployment of poll personnel, the status of randomization of EVMs, transportation, postal ballot, etc.

The observer also visited several polling stations under various Tezpur Municipal Board today and assessed the preparations made by the district administration. After making necessary observations and suggestions, the observer expressed satisfaction with the overall preparedness in the district.
