Guwahati: The news of Rahul Das getting an excellent score in NEET and securing admission at AIIMS in Delhi has turned out to be a sham and a cooked-up story in a startling development.
Rumour had it that Rahul Das, a tea trader's son from Patacharkuchi in Bajali district in Assam, passed NEET and had been offered a seat at the prestigious AIIMS to pursue MBBS.
This story flooded the news last week and became so popular that it caught the attention of the Assam Chief Minister. However, the information turned out to be false.
A group of students from Assam who appeared for the NEET exam had initially sensed something fishy and raised alarm bells to the media, stating that Rahul's claims are cooked up. But, this claim could not be proved during that time due to a lack of evidence.
However, it was discovered that Rahul's admit card had been altered, with a clear mismatch between his roll number and date of birth. The roll number of Rahul's admission card was 2303001114 but it turned out to belong to a girl named Kiranjeet Kaur from Haryana, whose all India ranking was 11656. This was revealed just two days after the news broke out.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the state government will bear the educational expenses of Rahul after the results were announced.
Meanwhile, he also got felicitated by Minister Ranjit Kumar Das in Patacharkuchi.
A local resident of Patacharkuchi claimed that he tried to reach out to Rahul only to get no response at all. After going through his marksheet, it was found that the information contradicted the reported result.
According to reports, the locals were furious after finding this out. They were so outraged that the small tea-stall belonging to Rahul's mother was dismantled by the locals.
The locals have alleged that Rahul, along with his mother and younger brother are absconding.
