Murlidhar Jalan bus terminus to open soon in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: The Murlidhar Jalan Bus Terminus will be operational soon in Dibrugarh to avoid traffic congestion of Dibrugarh town. This was decided during a District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting held at the DC’s conference hall, Dibrugarh on Wednesday, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu.

The chairman of the committee, Biswajit Pegu suggested to take some resolutions that no passenger carrying buses will be allowed for roadside parking and also the buses have to be parked at Murlidhar Jalan Bus Terminus near Convoy Road. Actions will be taken by the departments concerned to minimize traffic along the KC Gogoi Path and also along the school and college roads.

Proper parking places for vehicles and monitoring the parking places were also discussed. The chairman instructed the DTO and Traffic Inspector of Dibrugarh to take all steps to control traffic problems in the district. Ikbal Ahmed, one of the members of DRSC, suggested the committee should hold a meeting with all heads of the different institutions and set their timings in a phased manner. Ahmed also suggested traffic awareness programmes should be held at the primary school level, besides the existing traffic awareness programmes among the youths.

Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra, ADC Sanghamitra Baruah, DTO, Dibrugarh, Traffic Inspector, members of the committee, stakeholders, representatives were present during the meeting.
