NABARD organized Sanitation Literacy Campaign in Lakhimpur

The District Development Office of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organized a Sanitation Literacy Campaign at Bamun Doloni village on Tuesday.

LAKHIMPUR: The District Development Office of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organized a Sanitation Literacy Campaign at Bamun Doloni village on Tuesday.

The programme was held under NABARD Schematic Refinance for Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) in view to creating awareness on the sanitation product requirements, such as, repairs to toilets, retrofitting and upgradation of dysfunctional toilets with double pit, building of bathroom, water connection to toilets, construction of overhead water tanks, additional bathroom cum toilets, installing piped water connection, setting up of bio-gas plants using human excreta, cow dung and kitchen waste and rain water harvesting structure.

By adopting this scheme on October 2 of this year, NABARD launched a concessional refinance scheme to encourage banks financing Sanitation Products. Moreover, nearly 1 lakh participants across the nation, by collecting their data, would be mapped.

In the programme, NABARD District Development Manager AmlanTamuli and WaSH Consultant-cum-Assistant Project Coordinator of Arohan Food Private Limited, Jepuleen Dutta were present as resource persons. In his speech, Amlan Tamuli threw light on the loan facilities available regarding the project to achieve its aspired goal. On the other hand, JepuleenDutta underlined the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in residential areas in view of securing human health.

Lead District Manager Pradip Kumar Khakhlari was presented in the programme while United Bank of India (North Lakhimpur) Branch Manager Manish Kumar, Punjab National Bank (North Lakhimpur) Branch Manager TinamoniDoley and representatives of Gram Panchayat were present as guests of honour.

On the other hand, similar campaign programme was organized at No. 2 Kasutali village under Dhemaji district on Wednesday. The programme was held under the management of DDM AmlanTamuli, who also took part in the programme as resource person along with Jepuleen Dutta. LDM Pradip Kumar Khakhlari was present as chief guest while Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (Gogamukh) Branch Manager HemkantaDutta took part as guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, all of them highlighted the loan schemes and other facilities provided by their respective banks in view of rural development, employment generation and financial empowerment of the individuals as well as Self-Help Groups.
