NABARD organizes training on terracotta and pottery craft in Nagaon district

NAGAON: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Assam Regional Office, Guwahati, is sponsoring a livelihood and enterprise development programme training on terracotta and pottery craft activities in the Nagaon district and its neighboring areas like Hojai, Lanka, Lumding, etc.

Rajendar Perna, DDM-NABARD, inaugurated the training programme in the presence of LDM, bank officials from AGVB and SBI, BPM of ASRLM, and representatives of the implementing agency, Gramya Unnayan Santha, at Konuwamari village under Bajiagaon Development Block in Samaguri LAC a couple of days ago.

While addressing the occasion, Rajendar Perna, DDM-NABARD, asserted that the programme would forecast the conduct of livelihood promotion programs in clusters with provisions for intensive skill building trainings, refresher trainings, backward-forward linkages, and handholding and escorting supports.

The training programme on terracotta and pottery craft is scheduled to be conducted among 90 members of mature self-help groups, and in addition to training sessions, it will also cover all aspects of record and bookkeeping, enterprise management, business dynamics, etc. The programme will include a practical session on product diversification, which will include modern day designs, gift items, show pieces, and so on.

In his inaugural speech, Perna urged all local financial agencies and bankers to come forward and extend credit support to interested trainees, either through group financing or Mudra loans or PMEGP loans, so that they could establish their own micro units.
