Nagaon, Morigaon gear up for COVID vaccination drive

Two central Assam districts of Assam- Nagaon and Morigaon- have targeted to bring more than 30,000 civilians under the umbrella of COVID vaccination drive.

NAGAON: Two central Assam districts of Assam- Nagaon and Morigaon- have targeted to bring more than 30,000 civilians under the umbrella of COVID vaccination drive.

As per a health department report, for Monday 19,700 vaccine slots have been kept ready in three Cold Chain Points in Nagaon district and another 10,000 slots have been stored for the vaccination centres in Morigaon district.

A Nagaon district administration source on Sunday said that both Covaxin and Covishield had been stored in the three CCPs- Nagaon Civil Hospital, Kothiatoli PHC and Buragohain PHC. Required vaccines will be transported to the scheduled vaccine centres early in the morning.

"We ask civilians to come to the 27 vaccine points in different parts of the district. Each of these vaccine points will have required manpower, including doctors, to assist the civilians. Monday's vaccine drive will cover 300 inmates of two Nagaon jails and 250 people related to the FCI godown," the source added.

According to a health department source, the mega vaccination drive will continue for the next five days. "If needed, the number of centres as well as number of slots in each of these centres will be increased after the completion of the five days' programme," the source said.
