Nagaon SP Anand Mishra Tests Positive for Covid-19

IPS officer and Nagaon Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra has tested positive for Covid-19.

GUWAHATI: Anand Mishra, an IPS officer and Nagaon Superintendent of Police, tested positive for Covid-19. He was found to be infected with the virus and was placed under quarantine. Mild symptoms have been recorded by the police, who are following all Covid guidelines.

On Thursday Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has been hospitalized after he tested positive for COVID-19, The governor's medical parameters are within normal range and he is asymptomatic, the official said. His wife has tested negative for the infection and is staying at Raj Bhawan.

According to a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin, 3,274 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, up 437 from the previous day, bringing the total to 6,35,050. There were 1,138 new cases in the Kamrup Metropolitan, which includes Guwahati city, up from 870 on Tuesday, while 287 new infections were reported in Cachar and 172 apiece in Jorhat and Kamrup (Rural). The death toll increased to 6,189 as four more people succumbed to the sickness - two from Dibrugarh and one each from Cachar and Sonitpur.

On Wednesday, the state recorded 3,274 new cases after testing 49,915 samples for COVID-19. In Kamrup Metropolitan, 1,070 new illnesses were reported, followed by 305 in Cachar, 181 in Dibrugarh, and 145 in Jorhat. The total number of COVID-19 patients who have recovered in the state is 6,16,964, with a recovery rate of 96.66 percent. According to the NHM, 3,97,03,734 vaccination doses have been delivered in the state so far. On Thursday, 1,03,631 persons were vaccinated, compared to 1,37,557 on Wednesday.  6,126 people aged 15 to 18 had their first vaccination, while 6,822 people aged 15 to 18 received their second vaccination.

In view of the Bhogali Bihu celebration, the state government has decided to relax the curfew timing by one hour on Uruka night  The curfew will be in place from 11 pm to 4 am for Uruka night and the next morning. The decision has been taken considering the people returning to their homes on Uruka night as well as going to the market on the next morning, especially to buy fish," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
