RANGIA: The Rangia and Kamalpur police seized drugs, ganja and psychotropic substances worth over Rs 10 crore in a joint operation at Borka under the Kamalpur Police Station in the Kamrup district on Saturday night.

The operation was headed by Kamrup's Superintendent of Police Hitesh Ch Roy, ASP Asif Ahmed and Bhaskar Malla Patowary, OC of the Rangia Police Station. According to the SP, acting on a tip-off the team seized 1 kg of drugs, 5 kg of opium and 2,000 contraband tablets. The peddlers were carrying the drugs in a mini truck marked 'On Telecom Duty', he said.

The culprits carried the drugs and tablets by hiding them in a music system and a spare tyre. However, the culprits and the driver of the vehicle somehow managed to flee, police sources said, adding that efforts are on to nab the culprits.
