LUMDING: In yet another success in the war against narcotics by the state administration of Assam, a team from Lumding Police was able to apprehend two suspected drug peddlers on Friday.
A team from Lumding Police carried out an operation in the Samajbari region of Lumding based on specific inputs. The operation led to the capture of two suspected peddlers whose identities have been revealed as Pariksht Pal and Sameer Deb. Both the suspects are residents of the Refuge Colony of Lumbing according to police officials. They also had reports that these two men were involved in supplying narcotics to people at different localities of Lumding. A small among of narcotics was also confiscated by the police team during the operation.
In another massive success, the Government Railway Police team posted at the Lumding station of Assam was able to apprehend a massive drug smuggling ring in the region. The key development regarding the incident was that a large number of people involved in the smuggling of narcotics in the region were women belonging to other states.
The Government Railway Police team apprehended a total of thirteen women who are believed to belong from the state of Bihar. They were being questioned regarding the source and the identities of other people involved in the narcotics racket.
The police team had received information that a group of peddlers were transporting huge amounts of banned narcotic cannabis on the Down Kanchenjunga Express. The operation that followed led to the capture of the thirteen women as well as a large consignment of cannabis in a total of 42 packets. The narcotics were reportedly being sourced at Ambasa in Agartala and were being transported to Bihar when they were apprehended by the Government Railway Police at Lumding.
