Narrow Escape for Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, Naga Miscreants Open Fire on MLA

Congress MLA Kurmi was on way to the Disai Valley to resolve some land dispute and eviction issue along the Assam-Nagaland border

Guwahati: In news just coming in, Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi had a narrow escape after Naga miscreants opened fire at the Disai Valley Reserve Forest in Mariani where the Congress MLA was present to address some issue of land dispute with people from Nagaland. The MLA is safe and has been shifted to a safe place by the Assam Police Battalion. The incident took place on Thursday, May 27.

The MLA was on his way to Disai Valley to take stock of some land eviction by illegal occupants from Nagaland when the firing took place. Disai Valley is along the Assam-Nagaland border.
