GOLAGHAT: The National Highway 39 connecting two Assam, Nagaland and other ASEAN nations is in the pathetic condition. The present condition is such that due to the increasing number of deep potholes on the highway, rainwater fills up the broken road in such a manner that it becomes difficult to guess the exact depth of the broken roads by the drivers.
Many times big and small vehicles plunge into the potholes and have to be rescued by crane. Drivers said that earlier the distance between Rungajan and Dimapur was covered in 1.30 hours is now it takes around 3-4 hours. This busy highway is allegedly neglected by the administration as well as the government.
