JAMUGURIHAT: The National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau (NHRCCB), Assam, commemorated National Blood Donation Day with the presentation of the esteemed “Raktdata Gaurav Samman” certificates to the blood donors who consistently contribute to saving lives. This distinguished event was attended by state patron of NHRCCB, Tilok Handique, who personally distributed the certificates in Tinsukia. The state president of NHRCCB, Nishant Thard, enlightened the significance of this day. He added that blood, an essential element in human life, provides vital nutrition to our body’s tissues and organs. National Voluntary Blood Donation Day serves as a beacon for societal change, promoting life-saving measures and addressing serious health issues such as childbirth complications, road accidents, and injuries caused by violence. Each year, safe blood donation saves lives across all age groups and backgrounds. States like Tripura, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Maharashtra are recognized nationally for their remarkable contributions to voluntary blood donation. Tripura, in particular, stands out as a leader with a remarkable 93% voluntary blood donor rate.
This day holds great importance in dispelling ignorance, fear, and misconceptions surrounding voluntary blood donation campaigns. Numerous voluntary organizations invest their valuable time and resources in motivating students, youth, colleges, institutions, clubs, and NGO’s across the country.
