Students from government schools of Assam shone at the National Kala Utsav.

 GUWAHATI: Students from government schools of Assam shone at the National Kala Utsav. National Kala Utsav is an initiative of Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, Government of India to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students in the country. Parthana Chutia from Moran H.S. School, Charaideo won first prize in Instrumental Music (Percussion), female category. Parimal Probah Borah from Balya Bhavan High School, Jorhat won second prize in Instrumental music (Melodic). Gyanam Saikia from Desang Sukanpukhuri H.S., Sivasagar won third prize in Vocal Music (Traditional Folk) category.

Pratyut Protim Rajkhowa from Khonakhokhura H.S., Sivasagar won third prize in Instrumental Music (Percussion). Bhargab Saikia from Deoraja Peoples H.S. School, Sivasagar won third prize in Dance (Classical) category.

The students would also receive cash awards of Rs.25,000.00 for first prize, Rs.20,000.00 for second prize and Rs.15,000.00 for third prize. Kala Utsav is a national level competition for students of secondary and senior secondary level and focus on showcasing the artistic talent of the students. Kala Utsav is categorized in ten (10) different categories such as Music, Dance, Drama, Art etc. Students from across the states of the country participated, stated a press release.
