National Mathematics Day observed in Tinsukia district

DOOMDOOMA: Aryabhatta Science Centre, Tinsukia district under the Department of Science, Technology and Climate Change, Government of Assam, organized the district-level celebration of National Mathematics Day with a day-long programme at Gopal Krishna Girls' School, Makum in collaboration with Aryabhatta Science Centre, Hapjan Development Block on Saturday.

The programme was inaugurated by district coordinator Diganta Bhajni who explained the aims and objectives of observance of National Mathematics Day. The meeting was inaugurated by Inspector of Schools of Tinsukia District Circle, Bitupon Hazarika who explained the significance of the day. Ridip Hazarika, who attended the programme as resource person on Science and Mathematics, explained about the life and achievements of celebrated mathematician Srinivas Ramanujam through power-point presentation.

Thereafter, an interesting quiz competition on mathematics was held among the students of selected schools under seven Aryabhatta Science Centres of the district under the guidance of National Children's Science Congress (NCSC), Tinsukia District Educational Coordinator, Akash Gogoi.

The quiz competition was conducted by Hapjan Zonal Coordinator Rajdev Kaushik, Guijan Zonal coordinator Devashish Phukan and Itakhuli Zonal coordinator Robin Kurmi. In the afternoon, the awards ceremony was presided over by the Principal of Gopal Krishna Girls' School Dipali Chakraborty. The winners of the quiz competition were from Radhakrishnan Academy, Kakpather, Gangabichan Chowkhany Higher Secondary School, Makum and Vivekananda Academy, Digboi. They were given certificates
