DHUBRI: National Science Day, 2020 was celebrated with a two-day programme in Dhubri Bholanath College here under the sponsorship of Department of Biotechnology (under Star College Scheme) recently.
Principal of Bholanath College, Dr Dhruba Chakrabortty formally inaugurated the programme. In this connection, a science quiz competition was organized wherein 23 groups consisting of three members in each group participated. Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Dr. Bhabesh Nath acted as the quiz master and conducted the quiz competition.
On the concluding day, a day-long programme was organized which was attended and participated by a large number of students in model and poster competition. Altogether, 17 models (each group comprising of five students) and 23 posters (each group comprising of three students) participated in the competition.
Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, USTM, Subhasish Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Tezpur University, Dr. Moon Moon Devi, and DST-INSPIRE Fellow of Biotechnology, Gauhati University, alumnus of the college, Rajesh Dev Sarkar were the judges of the competition.
A popular talk on the topic ‘Nobel Prize in Physic 2019’ was also held wherein Dr Moon Moon Devi delivered her speech. It was followed by an interaction programme in which the faculty members and a large number of students participated. The programme ended with the prize distribution ceremony and vote of thanks offered by Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Dr Susmita Sen Gupta.
