LAKHIMPUR: National Technology Day was observed at Gohaintekela village of Lakhimpur district by the 4th year RSWEP students of the College of Sericulture, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat on Wednesday.

National Technology Day marks the history of India's achievement in the year 1998 under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. On this particular day, India successfully carried out a series of nuclear tests in Pokhran. The event plays a significant role as, on this day, the Technology Development Board (TDB) organizes national awards for the commercialization of technologies under the categories like National Awards, MSME awards, and Startup awards. This kind of award takes place to honour various industries and their role in the successful commercialization of innovative indigenous technology for the nation. This year's theme for the National Technology Day 2022 is 'Integrated Approach in Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future'.

During the observance of the event at Gohaintekela, a significant number of participants from the village were present. The programme was organized as an awareness drive to bring the recent advancement of technologies in the field of Mulberry, Muga, Eri and Tasar silk reeling industry to the notice of the public. The students made an effort to show the machines and equipment in visual mode through a presentation. An interactive session was followed after the event between the students and the villagers in this connection.
