LAKHIMPUR: The 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the ‘Iron Man of India’ was observed as National Unity Day on Thursday under the aegis of Dhakuakhana subdivisional administration of Lakhimpur district.
In the programme organized on this occasion under the management of AC Kulbhusan Pegu, retired vice principal of Dhakuakhana College, Purnananda Gogoi delivered speech on the life and works of Sardar Patel, the first Home Minister of India, highlighting his patriotic and dedicated contributions towards nation building. Subdivisional officer Arindam Baruah flagged off the Run for Unity which was taken out from the historic Phat Bihu venue covering Dhakuakhana town. He also administered the pledge of the National Unity Day. Over a thousand people, including administrative officers and employees, students of the schools and colleges, Anganwadi workers and assistants took part in the programme.
