SIVASAGAR: The outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Nazira, has prompted the Nazira Administration to impose Section 144 CrPC following which some stringent measures have been put into place for the safety of the entire subdivision.
The order issued by Sabyasachee Kashyap, Additional District Magistrate & I/c Nazira Subdivision stated that the ban was imposed after receiving information from the District Veterinary Officer, Sivasagar and test report from NERDDL that ASF has been confirmed in the Pig Farm owned by one Indrajit @ Jon Borgohain of Luthuri Gaon, Simaluguri town, Ward No.6.
As per the order, any movement of live pigs/pig produce/pork meat/pig feed/ movement of outside from within 1 KM of radius of the epicenter i.e. house of Indrajit @ Jon Borgohain, has been banned. Selling or buying of pork and pork produce, pig slaughter within 1 km radius of the said epicenter are also prohibited. Any death of the pigs within 1 km radius of the said epicenter should be brought to the notice of Veterinary Department and carcasses should be deeply buried taking all bio security measures. The order further stated that all pig producers/breeders must maintain strict bio security measure to prevent any spread of disease to new pocket.
