MANGALDAI: Truly living up to ‘Unity and Discipline’– the motto of NCC, the NCC cadets under North Eastern Region Directorate stood together in their victory march as they stole the limelight in the Republic Day camp by bagging trophies in the PM’s rally, Guard of Honour, Flag Area and National Integration Awareness Presentation (NIAP).
Never before in the history of the north-eastern region, NCC has any contingent won so many awards or any contingent been adjudged best overall contingent in the Republic Day camp out of 17 contingents from all over India.
Ably led by Colonel Jatinder Singh, the cadets included Cadet Pathaw who was adjudged as the Best Stick Orderly, Cadet Abhishek Pandey who was declared Best Guard Commander of the PM’s rally and Cadet Subrata who was awarded second Best MC, apart from Cadet Raj Chetri who was adjudged runners-up in the Best Cadet Competition.
In the equestrian events, SUO Dickjyoti won the bronze medal in dressage veterans, Sergeant Keerthi was runners-up in dressage novice while Cadet Angad Singh won a commendation medal in dressage novice boys event. The cadets from remote and rural areas were groomed, trained and mentored by dedicated instructors from the Army, Navy and Air Force under Chief Training Officer Brigadier DB Pany and overall leadership of Additional Director General of North East Region Directorate of NCC, Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi.
The NCC cadets of the North Eastern Region Directorate were given a rousing welcome at Kamakhya Railway Station on their return from RDC Camp as they reached Guwahati after a resounding performance at the Republic Day camp where they were crowned undisputed RDC champions.
Extending a hearty welcome to the cadets at a function at Kamakhya Station on Friday midnight, Brigadier Ajit Kumar Borah said that such imposing performance could only be made possible due to the consistent efforts of the NCC Cadets and the vision of Additional Director General Major General Bipin Bakshi who galvanized the soul and spirit of NER Directorate to climb the unparalleled pinnacles of glory.
