Haflong: Chief Executive Member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa inaugurated the ‘Haflong Ethnic Street’ in presence of Executive Members Samuel Changsan, Nandita Gorlosa, Golonjo Thaosen, MAC and chairman Monjit Naiding, Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa and other dignitaries.
Haflong Ethnic Street has been organized by Haflong Municipal Board in collaboration with the Tourism Department, Blue Hills Society and Haplou with the aim and objective of promoting tourism and encouraging ethnic food thereby facilitating income generation among unemployed youths.
Different ethnic groups like Dimasa, Jem, Kuki, Hmar, Karbi and others put up ethnic food stalls on the street. CEM Debolal Gorlosa addressed media persons after inaugurating the first Haflong Ethnic Street and said that such things were being organized to encourage youths to take up entrepreneurship. He said, “We are organizing Falcon Festival at Umrangso, Jatinga Festival at Jatinga, Holy Bath Festival at Panimoor and Busu at Maibang to promote tourism. This Haflong Ethnic Street will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week.”
