Haflong: With the inauguration of a market shed at Khepre Bazar, a long-standing demand of the people from four constituencies of N C Hills Autonomous Council was fulfilled on Tuesday. The market shed at Khepre, located 110 km from Haflong along the Assam-Nagaland border area measuring 100 feet by 85 feet, implemented by the Diyung Valley Development Block, Maibang under 5th Finance Commission 2017-18, was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Debolal Gorlosa on Tuesday.
The inaugural function was attended by Executive Member Samuel Changsan and other dignitaries. The Khepre market has been considered to be an inter-State market since people from at least eight villages of neighbouring State Nagaland also visit the market to sell and purchase, in addition the people of at least 15 villages of four constituencies like Wajao, Semkhor, Hajadisa and Diger. The people of Khepre area had been demanding a market shed since long.
CEM Gorlosa said that the present executive committee was always concerned for the development of the district and its people. The market shed will also help the locals to sell their locally grown products, thus giving them livelihood and helping to boost the economy. He also said that a good amount of fund had been sanctioned for the bridges and the existing road from Noblaidisa to Khepre and beyond as the portion from Nablaidisa to Tongikro of the most popular Khejurband-Khepre road was not in a good condition.
