HAFLONG: Chief Executive Member, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Debolal Gorlosa inaugurated a series of projects completed recently by various departments in constituencies like Hangrum and Laisong constituencies of NCHAC in Dima Hasao located about 80 km from Haflong on Friday.
In Laisong, a bridge connecting villages under three constituencies like Laisong, Hangrum and Jinam was inaugurated. This 50-metre span bridge over the Jinam River constructed by the PWD of Mahur Divison built at the cost Rs. 2.92 crore, is funded by RIDF-XXIV of NABARD under the Mahavir Lachit Chilarai Setu Nirman Abhiyan project.
Dormitory, which is locally called Hangseukiaki in the native Jeme Naga language, was inaugurated at Hejailua. This dormitory was constructed under the special package 2020-21. At Bamdi village in Laisong Bagan, a market shed was inaugurated and it was later followed by inauguration of Veterinary Guest house at Hezaichak village. A guest house named after Padma Bhushan Ranima Gaidinliu Memorial Guest was also inaugurated at Hezaichak.
During the public meeting, the CEM said that infrastructural development such as completion of building roads and bridges was a big achievement. Jinam Valley has always been one of the toughest terrains in Dima Hasao district with no proper roads and infrastructure which often hinder timely implementation of government schemes. With this development, the villagers can now heave a sigh of relief and commute to close towns in lesser time.
The programme was attended by chairperson Ranu Langthasa and Executive Members Nipolal Hojai, PaudamingNriame and other dignitaries.
