LAKHIMPUR: North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), which is under the ownership of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, Ministry of Power, Government of India, has donated a school bus to the Lakhimpur district administration for the benefit of the students of tea gardens under jurisdiction of North Lakhimpur subdivision. The corporation, which plans, investigates, designs, constructs, generates, operates and maintains power stations in the North Eastern Region of the nation extended the vehicle under its Corporate's Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Lakhimpur district administration selected the Joyhing and Koyolamari tea gardens for the service of the bus. The district administration handed over the vehicle to the authorities of both tea gardens concerned on Tuesday. On this occasion, a brief programme was organized at the North Lakhimpur Circuit House premises in the presence of Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka.
In the programme, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan handed over the bus to Koyolamari Tea Garden Chief Manager DS Bhandari and Joyhing Tea Garden Senior Welfare Officer DJ Neog.
Notably, the district administration inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with both teams garden authorities regarding the maintenance of the bus. As per the MoU, the tea garden authorities will bear the fuel and maintenance charges of the bus in addition to paying salary to the pilot.
