NEP 2020 lays emphasis on interest-based education system

TANGLA: "The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is now tabled and we, the teachers, have to know it before it is executed. It is aimed at bringing back the lost glory of our ancient civilization and to make our future generations master of all trades. The most important aspect of the NEP is to give emphasis on mother tongue and our indigenous assets which are yet to be explored." This was observed by Principal of Udalguri HS School, Pushpadhar Bastola, while addressing an assembly of teachers at a district-level seminar here at Udalguri Girls' HS school auditorium on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion as key resource person, Bastola, a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, said that the education policy passed by the Union Government laid emphasis on interest-based education system where children could enjoy and pursue their subjects of interest. "While learning their mother tongue or any local language in primary schools, the children can avail learning any national or foreign language in higher education and take up any subject of their interest to excel in. Actually, the new NEP wants to bring out the Chanakya in every child," he observed. The seminar was also addressed by senior subject teacher of Harisinga HS School,

Hanna Suni Mochahari, and secretary of Udalguri district Legal Services Authority, Kingkini Borah as resource persons who appreciated the NEP 2020 for its new and unique features for the all-round development of human resource.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, Pinky Borgoyary attended the seminar as chief guest and inaugurated it by lighting the earthen lamp. Earlier, senior journalist Rewati Raman Sapkota explained the purpose of the seminar which was chaired by Principal of Udalguri Girls' HS School, Dilip Kumar Sahariah.

The seminar, jointly organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Udalguri, NGO MRSD, 3 Life Foundation of New Delhi and Mamta- HMC of New Delhi, was also attended by Inspector of Schools of Udalguri, Bhaben Deuri and president of Conscious Citizens' Forum of Udalguri, Sarat Basumatary among others.
