New committee of All Assam Lekhika Samaroh takes charge

TEZPUR: A meeting of All Assam Lekhika Samaroh was held with both old and new members and other office-bearers as well at its Padumpukhuri office recently. The new committee was handed over charge in this meeting.

Although the new committee of the women's literary body, that was elected in its 18th biennial session held on January 30, 2020 in Dhemaji, took over charge via WhatsApp, in this meeting the outgoing secretary of ALS, Darpana Bora Neog formally handed over all important documents of the committee to the new president, Dr Saru Saharia Nath and secretary Thunu Kalita. Besides this, the top floor of the building, completed with the Chief Minister's fund, was also officially handed over to the committee by the PWD (B) department.

Expressing her gratitude towards Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta for their support to the literary body, the new president, Dr Saru Saharia said that they would go ahead for the socio-cultural and literary development of the region with more commitment. She also appreciated the 'Kavya-Gulma' programme conducted during the lockdown period through WhatsApp by publicity secretary Bandana Dutta Hazarika. Moreover, the collection of Rs 1, 26, 000 to contribute to the Assam Cares for fighting the COVID-19 pandemic was also lauded by her in the meeting. She hoped that the members would keep working for the organization with full dedication.
