New Mart for rural diary farmers opened in Nagaon

NABARD provided the fund for setting up the mart for local rural dairy farmers and also promoted one group of such diary farmers as Dakshin Hojai Milk Producers Company Ltd

NAGAON: Hojai MLA Ram Krishna Ghosh ceremonially inaugurated Naba Kapili Rural Mart, an systematic outlet for milk and other milk based products, at Hojai Natun Bazar area a couple of days back here. NABARD provided the fund for setting up the mart for local rural dairy farmers and also promoted one group of such diary farmers as Dakshin Hojai Milk Producers Company Ltd which contains almost 480 shareholders.

Rajendra Perna, DDM, NABARD, Rama Bala Devi, Chairman, Hojai Zila Parishad, Lakhi Prasad Bora, Diary officer, Dr Shamim Ara Rahman, veterinary officer, Mukut Deka, secretary of Gramya Unnayan Sangstha, Hojai and a host of dignitaries participated in the inaugural programme.

While addressing the occasion, Rajendra Perna, DDM NABARD stated that NABARD promoted one FPC to Milk Producers Company Ltd and had already been registered under company act. Earlier, under the guidance of NABARD, Diary Development Department and NGO Gramya Unnayan Sangstha, Hojai, the FPC got involved in various activities including milk production, collection, processing, selling, etc with Rs one crore turnover, he added.

Meanwhile, in his inaugural speech, Hojai MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh lauded the efforts of the FPC in expanding its business into newer areas with support from NABARD, Diary Development Department, SBI etc and also thanked NABARD for sanctioning fund in setting up Naba Kapili Rural Mart at Hojai Natun Bazar area.
