BOKO: Arrangements have been made to turn Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko into a quarantine centre, declared Boko Subdivisional Public Health Engineering Department Officer Babul Boro on Tuesday. As per government order, Kamrup district administration has decided to make Jawaharlal Nehru College a quarantine centre.

A constituency-level committee of 13 members was formed under 48 no. Boko LAC to deal with the present situation arising due to the outbreak of COVID-19 with Boko MLA Nandita Das as chairperson of the committee and Boko Revenue Circle Officer Pinki Dutta as member secretary. On May 27, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup district, Kailash Kartik N visited the college and said that the college would be turned into a 100-bedded quarantine centre.

On Tuesday, Babul Boro, SDO of the Boko Subdivisional PHED, visited the college and said that his staff had prepared 16 attached bathroom-latrine with 24 hours water supply. The department has also arranged for 24 hours pure drinking water supply for the quarantined people. He also added that the centre's 100-bedded facility might be increased to 500-bedded facility.
