DIBRUGARH: A new Safai Karmachari body was formed to look after the welfare of the Safai Karmachari's across Assam. The All Assam Safai Karmachari Oikya Manch on Monday organised a meeting in Dibrugarh where various resolutions were taken for the benefit of the Safai Karmacharis.
In the meeting, the All Assam Safai Karmachari Sanstha was formed which will look after the welfare of the Safai Karmacharis.
"We demand regularization of Safai Karmachari in Municipality Board in Assam. We want regularization and scale pay for our people. We are pressing for the regularization of Safai Karmacharis in municipality board across Assam but till date no one has been regularized," said one of the members.
He said, "In Assam Municipality Board's Safai Karmacharis and table staff are the main people who look after the Muncipality but table staff are given scale pay and other benefits and Safai Karmacharis are neglected. In Assam most of the Safai Karmacharis in municipality boards are not regularized and not getting any benefits from the government."
"1,653 posts across municipality board in Assam are going to regularize but our percentage is less. During the 2021-22 budget session, a total of 1,231 posts will be open in municipality," he said.
