Newly-appointed Kamrup DC Keerthi Jalli visits Lumpi area along Assam- Meghalaya border

Newly-appointed Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli visited the Lumpi area along the Assam- Meghalaya border on Wednesday.

LUMPI: Newly-appointed Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli visited the Lumpi area along the Assam- Meghalaya border on Wednesday.

Kamrup SP Hitesh Ch. Roy, Boko Circle officer Dibash Bordoloi, Boko Development Block officer Arnav Goswami, RHAC General Member Arjun Chetry along with many other government officials visited Lumpi area. Later they took part in the Rashtriya Poshan Maah celebration, which was celebrated for the first time in Harshanagar under Lumpi area, Boko.

The Gorkha and Garo tribal community welcomed the DC with their traditional dances. Nearly 1,000 villagers of the Lumpi area took part in the celebration program. DC Keerthi Jalli interacted with children at Harshanagar Anganwadi Centre and spoke with Anganwadi workers. The Boko-Bongaon integrated child development services (ICDS) office, along with Anganwadi workers, demonstrated varieties of local foods, pickles and other items.

Later, the DC and other guests took part in a public meeting which was organized by the Boko-Bongaon ICDS office on the occasion of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah celebration. Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Sukanya Das presided over the meeting. CDPO Suknya Das said that the Rashtriya Poshan Maah was celebrated at block level for the first time in the Lumpi area.

DC Keerthi Jalli requested the local public to avail their documents like Aadhaar, Pan Card, Bank Account and other state government documents, so that each and every person could benefit from all the government schemes. She also added that Lumpi would be a tourist spot and block development offices would provide government assistance to develop the Lumpi area.

A local youth from Harshanagar village, Bikash Chetry narrated various problems in Lumpi area. He talked about the lack of primary schools, teachers, and doctors. He also said that the Jal Jeevan Mission had totally failed. DC Keerthi Jalli told the people that she had noted down the problems of the area and would try to solve all the problems one by one very soon.
