NFR Mazdoor Union Demands Railway Workers to be Recognized as COVID Warriors

The NFR Mazdoor Union (NFRMU) demanded that all railway workers should be recognized as COVID-19 warriors.

TINSUKIA: Railway Worker Corona Warrior: The NFR Mazdoor Union (NFRMU) demanded that all railway workers should be recognized as COVID-19 warriors. The All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) in association with NFRMU will resort to nationwide agitation on June 7 by sending lakhs of protest tweets to the Prime Minister and Railway Minister of India.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, Pulak Gogoi, the central organizational secretary of NFRMU, stated that in NFR alone 40 railway workers in five divisions had lost their life due to the COVID pandemic. They had served the Railways in various capacities with utmost dedication but the Railway authority remained indifferent towards their well-being, he said.

COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 17 workers in Katihar division, 4 in Alipurduar, 8 each in Rangiya and Lumding and three in Tinsukia division, Gogoi said, adding that on June 18 all employees would register their protest at their respective workplaces by wearing black badge maintaining COVID protocol.
