NFRMU Bongaigaon branch demands restoration of Old Pension Scheme

Demanding the scrapping of New Pension Scheme and restoration of Old Pension Scheme, North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union, Bongaigaon branch took out a mass rally

BONGAIGAON: Demanding the scrapping of New Pension Scheme and restoration of Old Pension Scheme, North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union, Bongaigaon branch took out a mass rally on Tuesday at Bongaigaon town. The programme was organized in the same tune with other branches of the Union throughout India responding to the call of All India Railwaymen’s Federation.

Talking to press Ashish Biswas, general secretary of NFRMU said that it was actually a 10 day programme which started from February 10. “From February 10 to February 20, a signature campaign was conducted throughout India where more than one crore people signed for restoration of Old Pension Scheme. All the trade unions and federations had given their support in this campaign. All these signed appeal were sent to president of India through e-mail. Today, we have taken out a mass rally in every branch of the union,” Biswas said.

In Bongaigaon, the mass rally was taken out from the branch office where several hundred people took part. The rally moved through different locations of the town. Several noted person such as Kallol Dev Sarma, Central Organizing Secretary, NFRMU, Gobinda Biswas, Bongaigaon district Secretary, Hind Mazdoor Sabha, and branch leaders such as Abhijit Biswas, President, Umed Basfore, Secretary, Jagadish Bhattacharjee, Manoj Das, Abhijit Sengupta,Monu Bonia, Monomati Ramchiyary, Ganes Paul, Babuli Saikia, Dhruba Barman etc have participated in this rally. Earlier, a gate meeting was conducted at Engineering Workshop of Bongaigaon .

All the branches such as Rangia, Maligaon, Dibrugarh, Lumding, Katihar, Siliguri etc also conducted a rally today.
