DHUBRI: The Dhubri unit of Bharatiyam, an NGO, with sponsorship from Regional Engineering College (REC) Silchar, Batch 1996 Charitable Foundation, took a new initiative of supplying free oxygen cylinders to needy people during emergency cases in Dhubri recently.

A source in the Bharatiyam said that this was in order to ease out the crisis being confronted by the people of Dhubri town for quite a long time. This service will be rendered 24×365 from the head office of Bharatiyam located in Maharaj Hotel on NS Road, Dhubri.

Earlier, Bharatiyam, with the sponsorship of Regional Engineering College of Silchar 1996 Batch Charity Foundation, installed a number of tube wells in Dhubri's flood-hit area sans drinking water facility in August this year.

President of Dhubri unit of Bharatiyam, Chiranjit Roy said that it was observed that due to lack of oxygen many ailing patients succumbed while being shifted to Dhubri Civil Hospital or elsewhere. "So we felt it to necessary to supply oxygen cylinders free of cost to the poor patients who cannot afford so that people's lives can be saved," Roy added.
