LAKHIMPUR: The release of remuneration for the NISHTHA trainers of Lakhimpur district is still pending. Though the training concluded in the district in the month of March this year, the non-release of the due fund for the State-level special resource persons of the district has provoked resentment among the persons concerned.

Notably, the Department of School Education and Literacy launched this national mission to improve learning outcome at the elementary level through an integrated teacher training programme called NISHTHA under the centrally sponsored scheme of Samagra Siksha in 2019-20. It is a capacity building programme for 'Improving Quality of School Education through Integrated Teacher Training'. It aims to build competencies among all the teachers and school principals at the elementary stage. Like the other parts of the country as well as the State, the training programme was spearheaded and conducted by the State-level and special resource persons smoothly. It is reported that the resource persons had to spend even their pocket money while conducting the training programmes with the help of computers, projectors and internet.

Despite such circumstances, the remuneration of these resource persons has allegedly not been released in any block under Lakhimpur district while the resources persons in other districts were paid in the month of March. It is known that most of these resource persons were professors of DIET, instructors of BTCs, retired headmasters of high schools, CRCCs and head masters and teachers of LP and MV schools. The retired teachers, who acted as the resource persons of the training programmes, are facing problems due to non-payment of their due remuneration. The aggrieved resource persons have alleged that their payment is still pending due to the lack of goodwill of the training co-ordinator.
