Nitin Gadkari Approves 10 New Flyover Projects for Assam

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister

GUWAHATI: The central government and the state of Assam are working hand in hand towards rapid development of infrastructure and connectivity. This was evident from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's current visit to the state.

The central minister for Road Transport and Highways Department, Government of India is in Assam for a three-day visit from November 9 to 11. On the first day of his visit itself, he announced several developmental projects sanctioned across the northeastern region sanctioned by the central government.

The list of approved projects included as many as ten new flyovers and road-over bridges across the state of Assam. The net estimate for these projects has been put by the ministry at Rs 738 Crs. Coming under the National Highway Authority of India, these projects can also be expected to be completed in record time.

"Guided by the vision of Hon PM Sri @narendramodi Ji, #Assam has seen unprecedented development. Gratitude to Hon PM & Union Min Sri @nitin_gadkari Ji for approval of 10 new flyover & ROB projects worth Rs 738 cr on #NationalHighways in Assam," Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a tweet.

The locations of these ten upcoming flyovers as well as roads over bridges have also been declared by the government. The regions where these will be created are Kathiatoli, Borghat, Demow, Raha, Baihata, Simlaguri, Bongaigaon Refinery, Chapaguri, Pathsala and Jagiroad.

Two more ambitious projects that have been announced in the meeting are the Guwahati Outer Ring Road Project and the Khanapara - Airport Ropeway Project. The first will enable travellers to completely bypass all traffic of Guwahati city if they do not want to enter, thus helping to provide relief to the existing traffic condition. The second project is aimed to provide rapid transit between two ends of the city, thus helping travellers to reach the airport in a very short time.

These projects will help not only the state of Assam but the entire northeast region of the country.
