LAKHIMPUR: North Lakhimpur Press Club (NLPC) commemorated its former president Nanda Kishor Maheswari while observing his 73rd birth anniversary as Bhaskarya Aru Shipar Din on Saturday.

Nanda Kishor Maheswari was the president of NLPC from 2005 to 2012 for three consecutive sessions as an active working journalist. In addition, he was a prominent architect, stage and cine actor, dramatist, literary figure, efficient translator and a noted social activist who contributed much to Lakhimpur district. NLPC has been observing his birthday on May 9 in a befitting manner as Bhaskarya aru Shilpar Din since he was alive. This year, NLPC did not organize any extensive programmes due to the lockdown.

The commemoration programme began with the lighting of earthen lamp in front of the portrait of Nanda Kishor Maheswari by NLPC president Sailen Baruah. Then the members of the NLPC and Lakhimpur district headquarter journalists paid floral tribute at the portrait of the multifaceted personality.
