‘No human being was involved in manhandling of Gandhi’s statue’

GOALPARA: The Goalpara police has solved the mystery of recent manhandling allegation of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Burma Oil Company (BOC) point of Goalpara town. The police, after a thorough investigation and checking the CCTV footage, found that no human being was involved in the alleged incident.

According to the information, the right hand and the stick which the Gandhi statue was holding at the centre of BOC point on Thursday morning was found severed from the body and fallen near the statue.

The matter created immediate repurcussions and people expressed doubt that there might be some miscreants involved in the alleged incident. Khanindra Choudhury, Deputy Commissioner of Goalpara district visited the place of occurance without delay and ordered a high level police investigation.

A team under the supervision of Rituraj Dole, ASP has already completed the primary investigation and submitted the report. The report revealed that involvement of no human being was found in the incident. The investigation further reported that the same parts of the Gandhi statue was broken earlier during the July month of 2021 year.

The parts were later attached to the main statue with the help of a sculptor. However, this time also the similar incident occurred.

As such, DC Khanindra Choudhury, has refuted the allegation of any human hand in the incident and appealed cross section of people not to panic and maintain peace and harmony. He has further appealed the media persons to cooperate in spreading truth and checking rumours. The Gandhi statue is at present covered with clothes.
