No New COVID-19 Related SOPs As Of Now: Assam CM Himanta Biswa

GUWAHATI: Amid rise in Omicron variant of COVID-19 infection is fast rising in the entire country, the Assam Government will not issue any new SOPs as the state remains to be 'controllable'.

"We are not planning or thinking for any COVID-19 related SOPs in the state. We desire to move away from SOPs. But, if there is a rise in the COVID-19 cases in the state, we will think about SOPs then, " said the Chief Minister.

Further the CM stated that starting from January 1, 2022, all students irrespective of which year they're in will be able to reside in hostels.

"We will have to learn living with COVID-19 around. It will not disappear. Since, there is the least mortality right now, we have to maintain safety but not necessarily any restrictions unless it's the Omicron Variant of the Virus," asserted Sarma, regarding the rising of COVID-19 cases in Educational Institutions.

Meanhwhile, as many as 119 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the State on Saturday when 4 people died of the pandemic. While the positivity rate in the State during the day was 0.43 per cent, the recovery rate was 98.61 per cent.
