LAKHIMPUR: "In view of the current political backdrop, it is not possible for any political party to form government alone. Similarly, no political party can form government in Assam by ignoring the regional parties," stated Kumar Dipak Das in Lakhimpur on Sunday.
The vice-president of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)-cum-former MP, Kumar Dipak Das made this statement while campaigning for Utpal Dutta attending a mammoth campaign programme organized at Azad-Bahpati under No. 111 Lakhimpur Legislative Assembly Constituency. Taking part in the programme, Kumar Dipak Das emphasized the importance and relevance of the ideology of regional politics in order to resolve the burning and sensitive issues of a region like Assam. In this connection, the AGP vice-president flayed Congress for its lackadaisical attitude with regard to paying importance to bringing change to the State.
"Basically, Congress is responsible for long-pending burning issues of Assam. For the greater interest of the people and to end the burning issues of the State, we have come to an alliance with the BJP," Kumar Dipak Das added.
Addressing the rally, he further highlighted the achievements of Utpal Dutta as a minister of the AGP government and MLA of the LAC for five terms. He appreciated him for his relationship with the common masses as a follower of the ideology of regional politics. He added that a conspiracy was going on to destroy the AGP and appealed to the people of the State to save the party from destruction.
In the programme, Kamalpur MLA-cum-AGP general secretary Satyabrat Kalita, vice-president Sunil Deka, information and publicity secretary Tapan Das also delivered speeches appealing to the people of Lakhimpur to keep regional politics alive by making Utpal Dutta winner for the sixth term. Utpal Dutta expressed his optimism of winning the seat by a margin of 20,000 votes.
