LAKHIMPUR: The North Lakhimpur Municipal Board (NLMB) has imposed restrictions with regard to plying of heavy vehicles like tractors, trucks, dumpers, trailers etc. on the roads, lanes and bylanes under North Lakhimpur Municipal Board area in view of the public safety and public interest.
In this connection, Casio Karan Pegu, the Executive Officer of the NLMB, has issued an order under Section-153 of the Assam Municipal Act-1956. The order has prohibited the use of roads under NLMB area by tractors, trucks, dumpers, trailers between 7:00 am to 8:00 pm on all days not beyond the points of Moidomia Check Gate (NH-15), Hindu Gaon Tiniali, LMCH entry road, Hatilung Bridge (NH-15), Bowalguri Tiniali, Bormuria Tinilai (Alpha Market).
The vehicles belonging to the municipal board are exempted from the purview of the above order. This order will come into effect from June 10. The above-mentioned heavy vehicles have been causing accidents and fatalities which have also been recorded in District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meetings.
