DIBRUGARH: Northeast's first cow ambulance was inaugurated by Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu at Gopal Goushala in Dibrugarh. Speaking on the occasion, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said, "I thank the members of Dibrugarh Gopal Goushala for such an initiative. The cow ambulance will be first ambulance service for cows in the entire Northeast which will provide service to the sick and injured cows."

Talking to reporters, Nirmal Beria, president of Gopal Goushala said, "For the first time in the Northeast, the cow ambulance service was inaugurated in Dibrugarh to help sick cows." He said, "We faced a lot of trouble in bringing the sick cows, lifting them and taking them to the shelter. As such we thought of procuring an ambulance solely for the purpose."

"We brought the ambulance from Ahmedabad and the ambulance is fitted with a hydraulic lifting system which makes it easier to lift the sick cows," he added. In 2020, the Goushala started the first cow hospital in the entire Northeast. The Goushala was established in 1901. Since then the cow shelter is working relentlessly toward the safe sheltering of cows.
