Guwahati: "We are not happy what Zubeen Garg has done recently," Ajit Bhuyan, Assam Rajya Sabha MP, said on Monday, taking potshots at the singing icon for his recent meetings with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Agriculture Minister Atul Bora. He also said that Zubeen does not have any "social responsibility."

"Zubeen Garg is a popular singer, but he has no social responsibility," the MP said on Monday, in the wake of the singer's much-publicized meetings with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Agriculture Minister Atul Bora.

Hitting out at the youth icon for visiting Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and agriculture minister Atul Bora recently, the journalist-turned-politician Bhuyan further chastised that Zubeen Garg has no "ideological strength."

Bhuyan said that he does not understand why an artiste like Zubeen Garg is rushing door to door of the ministers. "Ministers should call on him," Bhuyan said.

Bhuyan has leveled his criticism at Zubeen days after Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said that Zubeen could become the new brand ambassador of the Agriculture sector of Assam. Both Bhuyan and Zubeen were fierce critics of the BJP-led government for bringing the citizenship amendment act.

It needs mention here that Garg, his wife, and a few of his colleagues had a meeting with the Assam Minister Atul Bora at the latter's official residence here on a project on Saturday. The inclusive dream project of Garg and his team has dairy, fishery, Agriculture, etc under it.

Garg told the Minister of bringing a green revolution in the State by luring the youths, especially those who have returned to the State due to the COVID-induced lockdown. One of the primary aims of the project, according to them, is ensuring remunerative prices of produces to the farmers by removing middlemen from the scene. This, according to them, can be done by removing communication bottlenecks in the transportation of farmers' produces to the market.

Earlier, Zubeen had visited Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to discuss problems related to flooding in the state -- months after reconciling with the CM at the Filmfare Awards in Guwahati.
