Noted Bodo cine artiste, entrepreneur Bikash Basumatary no more

KOKRAJHAR: Well known Bodo cine actor, producer, entrepreneur, former president of Bodo Cine Artists Association (BCAA) and Kokrajhar Merchant Association (KMA), social worker and humanist Bikash Basumatary (fondly called as Laloo) breathed his last on Friday morning at 5.30 am at Sunrise Hospital in Siliguri in West Bengal. He has been suffering from sinus problem for long. He left behind his wife, three sons, a daughter, daughter-in- law and grand children. He was 54.

Basumatary was a well known Bodo cine actor and producer. He had acted in many films and albums besides being producer. He was the president of Bodo Cine Artistes’ Association for two terms and Kokrajhar Merchant Association.

Born 1969 at Bhatarmari in Kokrajhar, Bikash Basumatary was associated with various social organizations and he had lot of contributions in the society. He was one of the relentless social worker and we’ll wishers for the growth of community. He was a friend of the poor who always extended support to needy persons in the locality and beyond. He was kind hearted and humanist who used to help others during crisis. His demise has caused big loss to the society and the cine world.

The president of Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DBHA) Bijuwel Nelson Daimary expressed shock over his sudden demise and prayed for his eternal peace. The Director of Rangjali Film and Entertainment Society Dajen Brahma also expresed shock and said the Bodo culture and cine world has lost a great genius.

Meanwhile, MCLA Derhasat Basumatary, ex president of DBHA Jogeswar Brahma, retired Secretary of BTC Prafulla Hazowary, leaders of Kokrajhar anchalik committee, ABSU, BSS, BCAA, DBHA, KMA, ex chairman of Kokrajhar Municipal Board Bishnu Narzary and well wishers from different communities came to his residence and offered floral tribute. His body was cremated at Chandamari near Gaurang River amidst huge number of villagers and well wishers.
