Noted educationist and social worker Pratap Chandra Kakoti passes away in Sivasagar

Pratap Chandra Kakoti, a resident of Charing Kakoti village in Sivasagar district, former Assistant Headmaster (AHM) of Sachidhar Phukan (SDP) Girls' High School, Charing, and noted social worker breathed his last at his residence due to old-age ailment.

GAURISAGAR: Pratap Chandra Kakoti, a resident of Charing Kakoti village in Sivasagar district, former Assistant Headmaster (AHM) of Sachidhar Phukan (SDP) Girls' High School, Charing, and noted social worker breathed his last at his residence due to old-age ailment. He was 95.

Born in 1927, Kakoti passed his matriculation from Radha Kanta Phukan (RKP) Boys' High School, Charing with first division in 1948. Later, he joined JB College, Jorhat in Science stream but without perusing B.Sc degree, he started working as a teacher in Junu Board High School Nagaland from 1960-1962. Later, he completed BA degree from Sibsagar College and BT from Jorhat Teachers' Training College. Thereafter, he joined Deoraja HS School at the request of them Amguri MLA Khagen Borbaruah. In 1964, he joined SDP Girls' High School and got superannuation as an AHM in 1989. Besides, he was actively associated with various social organizations.

His demise was widely mourned in entire Charing area. Various organizations paid tribute to him. He is survived by four sons, including Utjal Kakoti, Headmaster, RKP High School, a daughter and a host of relatives.
