Noted educationist Dr Krishna Kanta Hondique felicitated in Sivasagar district

GAURISAGAR: Dr Krishna Kanta Hondique, a resident of Jhanji Jamuguri in Sivasagar district, former Vice-Principal of Jhanji HNS College , professor of Sanskrit department and a veteran researcher of folklore, recipient of Bakul Bon Award-2020, was warmly felicitated by the people of greater Jhanji on Friday for his outstanding contribution towards development in the intellectual, cultural as well as spiritual fields. He was felicitated at a function held at Jhanji Hem Nath Sarma College auditorium.

The meeting was chaired by Jogesh Kishore Phukan, noted poet and former Principal, Amguri Aauniati Hem Chandra Dev HS School. In the function various organizations like Jhanji Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha, Jhanji HNS College, Jhanji Press Club, Jhanji Lekhika Santha, No 80 Najir Pukhuri LP School, Jhanji HS School, Jhanji Girls' High School, Jhanji Natya Samaj Kala Bhavan, besides a good numbers of his students, colleagues and well-wishers felicitated him. In the meeting, a felicitation book titled Loka Ratna, edited by Pratap Kumar Baruah and Jivamoni Nath, was unveiled by Juga Gogoi, former president of Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha.

Addressing the gathering, Gogoi highlighted the glorious cultural and intellectual history of Jhanji. He urged upon to the gathering to keep intact its past history and culture among the upcoming generation. Receiving the public felicitation, Dr. Hondique expressed his gratitude to all for giving him the honour. He said that inspiration encouraged a man to devote himself to work. "A conducive atmosphere is essential for creative work," he added.

Dr.Ranjit Kumar Baruah, president of Jhanji Sakha Xahitya Xabha, explained the objective of the meeting .In the meeting, Dr. Manjit Gogoi, Principal of Jhanji HNS College, former principals of the college, Dr.Anil Kumar Gogoi and Bhabani Kumar Baruah, educationist Rikheswar Sarmah, social worker Rajen Gogoi and Govinda Saikia highlighted the work and life of Dr Hondique and his contribution to the field of education and culture of Assam.
