Nowgong College celebrates Chatra Divas as a mark of respect of Bodo leader, Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma

KOKRAJHAR: Along with the rest of the State, the first Chatra Divas (Students’ Day) as a mark of respect of famous Bodo leader, Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma was celebrated at Nowgong College (Autonomous) which was jointly organized by IQAC, Nowgong College (Autonomous) and Students’ Union of Nowgong College (Autonomous). It was attended by students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers and NCC volunteers of the college.

The proceeding of the Chatra Divas was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Sarat Borkataki with lighting of the lamp in the morning followed by a seminar on “Role of Traditional Knowledge in Modern Education”. The proceeding of the seminar was initiated by Simson Mochahary and Dr. Ranjit Mazinder, Associate Professor & HoD of Political Science, Nowgong College welcomed the guests and participants. Dr. Anannya Hilodari, former head and Associate Professor delivered the key note speech on “Role of Traditional Knowledge in Modern Education”.

Dr. Hilodari spoke about the application of traditional knowledge in modern education also mentioned the role of traditional knowledge preserving the environment and biodiversity. Victor Narzary, OSD to Chief Executive Member, BTR , Sasanka Gupta Kashyap, PR Practitioner, Assam and Daman Basumatary, teacher, Langhin Higher Secondary and former ABSU leader graced the occasion as chief guest and guest of honours.

Narzary conveyed warm greetings of BTC Chief Pramod Boro to the college fraternity and delivered a lecture on great leader of Bodo community Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
